Pricing & Quotes
How is pricing determined for your services?
We primarily provide project-based pricing. After a thorough understanding of your needs and the scope of work—which may involve a consultation, photos, or an on-site assessment—we will give you a comprehensive, fixed quote for the entire job. This approach ensures you have a clear, upfront understanding of the total cost before any work begins, allowing for better budgeting and no surprise charges.
Our focus is on delivering high-quality, meticulous work and the best possible solution for your needs, rather than just hours spent. Project-based pricing allows us to dedicate the necessary time and attention to detail to achieve lasting results, without either party feeling the pressure of a running clock. We believe this provides the best value and peace of mind for our clients.

Do you have a minimum service fee?
Yes, we have a minimum service fee of $150. This fee covers our professional call-out, including travel to your location, initial on-site assessment, and essential preparation for the job.
For agreed-upon work that proceeds from this initial visit, the $150 minimum fee is then credited towards the first two hours of labor for your project. This ensures we can efficiently address your needs and provide dedicated, high-quality service even for smaller tasks.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept various payment methods for your convenience, We accept Visa and Mastercard Debit/Credit Cards, Apple Pay, Google Wallet, Samsung Wallet, Zelle, Venmo, PayPal and Cash. There are no fees added for any form of payment used. Payment details and terms will be outlined in your project quote or invoice.
Licensing & Insurance
Are you licensed?
I AM NOT A LICENSED CONTRACTOR.
All handyman services offered are for minor repair and maintenance tasks where the total cost for labor and materials for any single project is under $500, in compliance with California law. We do not undertake projects that legally require a contractor's license.
Are you insured?
Yes, absolutely! For your peace of mind and ours, Codas Customs and Collectibles is fully insured with a $1 million general liability policy. We believe in protecting our clients and their property.

What smart home devices and systems do you work with?
We have experience with a wide array of smart home devices and protocols, including Zigbee, Z-Wave, WiFi, and Bluetooth, across dozens of brands (like Nest, Ecobee, Ring, Arlo, Wyze, Philips Hue, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and many more). We specialize in creating customized ecosystems and are particularly experienced with sophisticated Home Assistant (HAOS) environments for truly personalized automation. If you have specific devices or a system in mind, let us know!
Do I need to purchase smart home devices beforehand, or can you source them?
We can work with devices you've already purchased. Alternatively, as part of our smart home design and planning service, we can recommend and help you source the best devices to fit your needs and budget. We'll discuss this during your consultation.
How does the custom woodworking process work?
Our custom woodworking process typically begins with a consultation to understand your vision, needs, desired style, dimensions, wood preferences, and budget. From there, we may develop a design concept or a software based 3D model. Once the design fits your imagination, we'll provide a detailed quote. Upon agreement, we begin crafting your piece, keeping you updated on progress. We focus on quality materials and meticulous craftsmanship to create a unique item you'll cherish.
About the Business
Who (or what) is Coda?
Coda is our beloved dog and the namesake of Codas Customs and Collectibles! He represents loyalty, a friendly approach, and the "custom" nature of much of what we do – unique, just like him. While he doesn't actively participate in the handyman work (yet!), he's the heart of our brand.
